How can we completely eradicate or as near as damn it eradicate spam comments and emails via our comments and contact forms in Wordpress? Easy actually. A while back i wrote an article on this subject (here on randommanblog.co.uk) and now I'd like to update you on my progress. Note: I'm publishing this on here as it is more of a relevant audience than I have on my other site.
I tried various methods to stop the spam, yet after a few weeks it came back. But at the end of November I implemented an easy software solution that completely stopped ALL spam comments. I haven't had one since. I also started receiving emails via my contact form, and I've now put a stop to that as well.
So what is the secret? Install these two bits of software, both free, 1 - WP-Spamfree and 2 - Fast and Secure Contact Form. And that's it. I didn't even configure WP-Spamfree, it did a ronseal.....and just worked. I added the fast and secure contact form later on, but that has also stopped the spam emails dead.
So there you have it. Simple and effective. The best and fastest way to stop those unwanted comments that are 99% random letters.

If you have stumbled upon this site by searching for the term Guest Blogging, you may or may not be fully aware of what this process is. If you are, then please skip ahead.
Guest Blogging is the name giving to the process of 'lending' your blogging skills to other sites. This has benefits for both parties, for the blog your writing on, they get more variety, a new feature, new idea's, time off if needed and also new friendship’s. For the blogger, it's the best way to get your name out there and also gain links back to your own site. There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of gaining a following and new readers for your own blog, plus let's not forget, if you are good enough, you may even be paid!
At present...

So today there will be no rant. Yes I would like to rant about the cold weather, and the drivers who insist on going twice the speed they would normally to ensure that they do indeed flip there cars and break a leg or two, or even the more obvious nuisance that affects us at the moment, celebrity tv show dross. But nay, I cannot. For all is well with the world today. Today is the day I have chosen as my one special day and busiest visitor day to announce to you that a project that has been in the making for 4 months now, has finally become a reality. GuestBlogger.biz is now officially launched.
Tada. End article.
You want to know more? Needy bunch. Well, it’s mainly a tool for those that want to write for blogs, and those that have blogs and would like to give others the opportunity to publish their own stories (or cover for them if they elope somewhere nearer the equator). It’s a free site where a blog owner will post an advert stating what they want and then people are able to contact said owner and apply for the position. It’s very simple and straight forward, and each person can be awarded karma of sorts once they have done a swell job, or berated into oblivion if they don’t turn up….all in favour of the cause of bettering the blogging community of course!
For those that have a blog, how often have you read about guest blogging as a way to increase your visitor numbers? I know I have. Yet, I’ve never found an outlet that offers an easy way for people to connect, regardless of site size or shape or type. Now we have one. And yes, it’s free. It’s Random Enterprises way of giving that little something back. And obviously it’s a rather random thing to do.
Go visit and enjoy, you’ll notice that we are looking for posters here and there, so feel free to apply! |
